The Beamish Museum sees around 800,000 visitors each year – so it’s no surprise that it takes a team of over 350 paid staff and 400 volunteers to keep the attraction running.

The North East’s most popular paid attraction is looking for a new generation of people to join its team – doing everything from frying fries on a period-appropriate charcoal stove, to making decisions on the future of the museum within their board of directors. trustees.

Fryer – Food Drink Engage

Salary: £9.71 to £10.06 per hour

The successful candidate will need to be a team player and willing to engage with visitors through the safe, efficient and hygienic frying of fish and chips in the museum’s fish and chip shops, including the operation of charcoal stoves .

Keeper of social history

Salary: £27,190 per year

In this role, you will have the chance to oversee visitor engagement with the museum and represent a diverse set of stories from across the Northeast, bringing together the region’s rich social, agricultural and industrial heritage.

Cook – Engaging Food and Drinks

Salary: £9.71 – £10.06 per hour

1950s City Engage

The cook will join Beamish’s Food and Beverage team and will be responsible for cooking, food preparation and baking in the displays, outlets and kitchens.

Engage 1900s Town

Pay: £9.71 per hour

1900s Town Engagers will work in the museum’s 1900s town, helping to engage visitors in exhibits and retail outlets. You’ll help tell the story of everyday working life in the North East, bringing the region’s vibrant heritage to life.

1950s City Engage

Pay: £9.71 per hour

Chair

Salary: volunteer role, with reasonable expenses

The successful candidate will serve as Chairman of the Beamish Board of Trustees and help shape the future of the museum.

You will work alongside the CEO, management team, volunteer staff and stakeholders to ensure the museum continues to grow, develop and thrive.

Trustees

Beamish is also looking for 13 directors for its newly formed governance board and is hoping for candidates with a wide range of skills and backgrounds.

The role is described as “a great opportunity to play a central role in shaping our future strategic direction for generations to come”.
