GM gets into politics by letting Andrew McCabe escape punishment
In another sign of his politicization, Biden’s Justice Department has reinstated the full pension of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe in 2018 after an internal investigation found he disclosed sensitive information about a Clinton Foundation investigation and then lied about it under oath, l ‘at least one of the three times he had done it. The dismissal two days before his scheduled retirement cost McCabe various benefits and reduced his pension.
But he quickly sued, saying the dismissal was political.
The Biden team chose to settle the case rather than defend Sessions’ quite fair decision, agreeing that taxpayers cover McCabe’s $ 539,000 in attorney fees and $ 200,000 in pension arrears. – as well as the removal of the dismissal from his file.
“Politics should never play a role in the fair administration of justice and the decisions of public service personnel,” McCabe said with a smirk.
Yes, Trump’s White House had reason to blame McCabe: he played a key role in promoting the absurd “Russian collusion” investigation, signing a warrant to spy on the campaign’s minor lackey. Trump, Carter Page and repeatedly standing up to FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith, who fabricated evidence to justify espionage. And he continued his partisan work as a paid contributor to CNN, fueling anti-Trump hysteria.
But his lies more than deserved Sessions’ punishment, even if it does not serve Team Biden’s political interests to champion this cause. Too bad politics matter more than good government in Biden’s Justice Department.
