International Conference on “Statistics Applied to Biological, Agricultural, Social and Medical Sciences” Concludes at SKUAST Rangil Faculty of Fisheries – Kashmir Reader
Srinagar: A two-day multidisciplinary international conference on “Statistics applied to biological, agricultural, social and medical sciences” was held at the Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil Ganderbal, SKUAST-K.
At the conference, more than 150 researchers attended the conference from around the world and 48 academics presented their papers in oral / poster form. The researchers shared their results in the form of articles and posters during various organized technical sessions.
The Vice-Chancellor SKUAST J&K Prof. J. P Sharma officially opened the conference. The conference was organized by Dr Bilal Ahmad Bhat (Head, Social Sciences Division, FoFy). The organizer presented the conference program to the public.
Professor Massarat Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, delivered the welcome speech, Professor DS Hooda, former SSC, was the guest of honor and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor JP Sharma SKUAST J&K, was the main guest of the day. Dr Parmil Kumar of the University of Jammu, Jammu presented a vote of thanks on the occasion.
Following the inaugural session, Technical Session I and Technical Session II took place on the first day of the conference. In Technical Session-I, Prof. TR Padi, Dean, FoMS, University of Pondicherry, Dr Farhat Umar and Professor DS Hooda gave guest lectures and during Technical Session II, Professor TR Padi chaired the session during which Professor Aquil Ahmad, head of the statistics department and OR, AMU. Aligarh and Mr. Hemant Kumar Lohia (IPS) were the keynote speakers.
On the second day, Professor Massarat Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K chaired Technical Session III in which Professor Rashmi Bhardwaj, FIMA (UK) and Dr AmatulMuhee, Associate Professor at FVSc. & Ah SKUAST-K presented the guest lectures. Teacher. Azmat Alam Khan, FVSc. & AH SKUAST-K. chaired Technical Session IV in which the keynote speaker was Professor Hameed Naseem Rafiabadi, Dean of Social Sciences, CUK. He delivered his speech on Morals and Ethics in Research. Researchers presented papers in all technical sessions. At the end of the day, a farewell ceremony was held during which Dr Tasaduq H. Shah delivered the welcoming speech which was followed by a summary of the event by Dr Bilal Ahmad Bhat, secretary organizer of the conference. Dr Bilal Ahmad Bhat immediately thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his support. He thanked all the scientists / researchers / deans / directors of various higher education institutions in the country and abroad for their support. Dr Bilal thanked Prof. Aquil Ahmad, Head of Statistics and Operations Research Department for acting as Chairman of the Jury (Prof. Massarat Khan, SKUAST; Dr Anupam Deka, Head of Statistics Department, Handique’s Girls’ College, Guwahati Assam, India; Prof. Nahida Tabasum, Univ of Kashmir; Dr. Vikas Doshi, Medical College, Baroda, Anand, Gujrat, India; Dr. Samira Khan, Imam AbdulRahman bin Faisal University Eastern Province Dammam, Saudi Arabia) for having rewarded the best article presenters. Over 80 abstracts / papers were received for the presentations and based on the quality of the paper and the presentation, the judges chose the best papers in mathematical sciences, agronomy and allied sciences and the best poster presentations. SKUAST-K’s Hon’ble VC guest of honor spoke on the occasion and congratulated the organizing team for having successfully organized the event. Professor Sarfaraz Ah Wani, Director of Research, SKUAST-K concluded the one-day event with his perspective. The session was officially closed by Prof. Azmat Alam Khan with a vote of thanks.
